The course is designed to address the following objectives for student learning:

• Students will be able to describe in detail the components of the clinical process, including conceptual issues and data collection tools for making decisions relevant to each component. 
• Students will recognize how the clinical process applies to a variety of communication disorders across ages.
• Studens will be able to define and discuss the importance of evidence-based practice in working with individuals with communicaiton disorders.
• Students will be able to conduct a preliminary search for data to support recommendations for treatment and the selection of a treatment approach for working with individuals who have communicatin disorders.
• Students will be able to describe the importance of data collection for assessing/evaluating, planning treatment, implementing treatment, and monitoring progress.
• Students will be able to describe the differences between quantitative and qualitative data, and different data collection tools as they are used to make decisions throughout the clinical process.
• Students will demonstrate ways to document the benefits of treatment.
